I am a scholar of literature- and theatre studies. Currently I mainly work on the German-language Afterlife Journeys of the Middle Ages and their reception variants in courtly romance. My focus is quite broad and encompasses theories of space and perception, and more recently also increasingly the possibility of literary depictions of otherworldly experiences as preliminary stages of virtual reality. In addition to my own research, until recently, my time was taken up with editorial work for the online magazine MEMO and directing and moderating the podcast SONIC TRINKETS. Since December 2025, I have been working on a monograph as part of the ‘Virtualizing Hell’ project.
