Together with Martin Knoll (European Regional History, University of Salzburg), Thomas Kühtreiber and Sabine Miesgang (IMAREAL, first-FV Regionalitäten) have organised a lecture series that will take place on Thursdays from 17:15 to 18:45 in HS 380 (Erika Weinzierl) at the University of Salzburg in the summer semester 2025. The invited speakers will look at ‘regions’ and ‘regionality’ in the context of mediality and social action.

Although the term ‘region’ implies exactly that, regions are not static entities that are sharply demarcated from their surroundings and exist autonomously. Rather, regions can be seen as spaces of condensed communication that enable the attribution of identities, as well as spaces of political and economic interests that are constituted through social action and represented and (re-)produced by the media.
