I am a historian specialized in medieval studies and the historical sciences.
As a historian I work primarily with written records. Including the various aspects of material culture in my research is of great value to me. For a long time I have been particularly interested in urban space: the networking of people and groups of people, the use of social and physical space by actors and the role of material culture in this. My postdoctoral thesis dealt with this topic in detail.
I am currently working more intensively on the study of material culture in the written word. I am interested in methodological approaches as well as in the development of digital humanities tools to make serial sources accessible.
I particularly appreciate working in an interdisciplinary team, as I am able to do at IMAREAL.
