I am a historian with a fascination for long lists of people, animals, objects and other serially recorded data, which I transfer into digital form using computer applications in order to gain new insights. In my scientific work at IMAREAL, I am very connected to the methods of digital humanities, among other things. The intensive communication with software developers and computer scientists contributes to the permanent expansion of my approaches.
I am interested in the relationships between people and things, migration and cultural exchange processes as well as the social treatment of animals in the 15th and 16th centuries. I am also interested in the potential of computer-aided information processing in research and teaching as well as the social changes brought about by the internet and digitalisation.
