As an art historian, I am particularly interested in artistic techniques in the Middle Ages, such as the processing, production and simulation of materials as well as their meaningful function and use on the object. To this end, I include, for example, art technological analyses collected by conservators and restorers in my studies and interpret them according to art historical questions. At IMAREAL, I am currently working on a project proposal within the research area “Sensing Materiality and Virtuality”.

Medieval art (painting, sculpture); art techniques in the Middle Ages; iconography and iconology; digital art history; history and theory of restoration, conservation, and monument preservation.
