I am a historian and my research focuses on the late Middle Ages and Early Modern Period in Central Europe.
My research is centred on the cultural history of politics, the history of piety (especially Catholicism) and epigraphy. I typically adopt a perspective of Media Studies when approaching my research questions. I am particularly interested in discourses and practices relating to the veneration of saints, pilgrimages and the commemoration of the dead. I am also interested in the intertwining of religion and politics in the pre-modern period, their actual manifestation in sources and their influence on the legitimisation and execution of power.
